The XR ecosystem has evolved rapidly over the past year, with new Android XR devices, emerging smart glasses, and AI-powered spatial interaction opening new opportunities for developers. Building on last year’s workshop, this hands-on session explores the next generation of open XR development using Godot Engine and OpenXR.

Participants will discover how to create portable XR applications that can target multiple devices while remaining based on open standards. The workshop will present live prototypes demonstrating industrial scenarios, contextual AI, voice interaction, and computer vision. A special focus will be dedicated to the integration of Open Data Hub datasets, showing how real-world open data can power interactive XR experiences, combining spatial information, points of interest, and environmental data in mixed reality.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will understand how to build future-proof XR applications using free software, OpenXR, and open data, gaining practical insights into the architectures and workflows that are shaping the next generation of spatial computing.
