The “South Tyrol Cloud for Citizens” is a nonprofit initiative, created by citizens for citizens. It aims to empower local communities through a trusted, community-rooted cloud platform that enables everyone to manage files, contacts, calendars, emails, and chat in a privacy-respecting environment.
The platform leverages a federated Nextcloud service provider network to guarantee high quality and reliability. Its open, modular structure integrates key components such as an ID management system, Nextcloud, LibreOffice Online, secure mail services, chat, and video conferencing. These tools enable seamless collaboration, document editing, communication, and online meetings, all under community control. Focusing on local involvement, data privacy, and transparent governance, the South Tyrol Cloud strengthens digital autonomy, promotes social cohesion, and bridges generational gaps. The initiative stands as a replicable model for European regions seeking digital sovereignty through solidarity and open technology.
Join us to explore how a nonprofit, citizen-driven digital infrastructure can foster inclusion, trust, and empowerment in the digital age.
