Free software is a suitable choice for organizations of all kinds, and we can demonstrate its value through our direct experience.
We will look at how, over the past 15 years, different organizations—from small to large—have successfully adopted FLOSS solutions. Participants will be able to recognize themselves in similar contexts and see how needs and challenges have been met and resolved.
We will start from the basic infrastructure, with solutions for data sharing, collaboration, and the management of business services through tools such as Nextcloud, Univention, NethServer, file servers based on ZFS, Proxmox, and systems for secure credential management such as Vaultwarden.
We will then explore topics related to reliability and operational continuity, including disaster recovery, backups, remote data replication, high-availability clusters, and firewalls based on OPNsense.
Finally, we will see how free software enables the creation of advanced and scalable infrastructures thanks to technologies such as FreeIPA, Wazuh, Zabbix, Ceph, CephFS, and systems dedicated to email protection.
We chose open-source software because it enabled us to deliver projects that would have been more complex, more constrained, or simply impossible to achieve with proprietary solutions. We have continued to use it because we have fallen in love with many of the communities behind it. Continuity is community: we will also share our wonderful experience with various communities, such as our long-standing relationship with PNlug, with whom we have shared—and continue to share—battles and projects.
