The way open-source repositories receive contributions has changed drastically over the past two years. Maintainers are increasingly receiving code that has never been tested, code that completely rewrites the codebase, contributions from non-technical users, and even submissions by those who are not people at all.
Traditional strategies for managing community contributions are becoming less effective, and the discussion about how to adapt is still ongoing.
I’ll be sharing a few considerations and tips for handling these new situations, based on my experience maintaining several Nextcloud repositories.
