User freedom: A love story


Computers affect virtually every aspect of our lives. Whether these ways are more obvious – like shopping online – or less so – like the algorithms that determine school start times – we are the end users experiencing the results of millions of lines of code. Dating, falling in love, and romance are in no ways exempt from the modern paradigm of computing.

With the rise of online dating and dating apps, the prevalence of computer mediated communication (CMC), sitting at home and streaming a video, and even making restaurant reservations online, the search for and act of holding onto love has become a user freedom issue
