Eclipse Temurin has reached 600 million cumulative downloads, demonstrating strong enterprise adoption; however, many users don’t financially support the project. This talk explores how the Eclipse Foundation enables sustainable open source through membership and diverse revenue models, including sponsorship, while staying vendor-neutral. We’ll examine user needs, the gap between usage and support, and the real costs behind maintaining and scaling high-quality “free”and ready to use software infrastructure.
