The Last Decade

The next ten years are the last period in which the governance architecture of AI can be meaningfully shaped by society. After that, the concentration of capability, infrastructure, and data will be too advanced to reverse through democratic or regulatory means. Open source is not a silver bullet — but it is a necessary condition for any future in which humans retain meaningful agency over the systems that govern their lives.
