In the context of the upcoming compendium “Open Source Hardware in the EU Market”, this talk will briefly present how intellectual property rights, right to repair and the latest EU regulation on hardware interoperability shape the context of Open Source Hardware.
In particular, after an overview of the relevant EU regulation on the topic of right to repair and interoperability rights, the talk will focus on the effects of the latest specification decision of the European Commission under the Digital Markets Act (Art. 6(7)) on hardware interoperability requirements for Apple and its impact on the Open Source Hardware market and legislative landscape.
