Beyond Big Tech: how to reach people who don’t care about FOSS

lealternative.net started as a personal blog and grew into one of the most comprehensive Italian-language catalogs of alternatives to mainstream software covering tools that range from fully open source to “good enough to matter.” This talk traces that evolution and the editorial choices behind it: why pragmatism beats purity when you’re trying to reach people who have never heard of FOSS, how years of reviewing and analyzing alternatives shaped a clearer language, a more accessible interface and a growing attention to the details that make the difference for a non-technical audience, and what six years of doing this have taught about communicating digital autonomy to people who are simply curious and not necessarily technical.
