We are developing a tool, called BMOL (BioMedical Object Librarian), to leverage the object storage technology for large genomics data management. The innovations are twofold: a privacy-first approach, so that access to data is linked to privacy processing permissions and separating the archival/classification phase from the querying/retrieval phase. Privacy-first is a tenet of the GDPR when designing systems for human genomics data, while the second concern allows a better management of data. Last but not least, the system has been built to scale into the Petabytes of data in a reliable and efficient way.
