Student
My name is Oscar Licciardi, and I am a computer engineering master’s student at the Politecnico di Torino. I am passionate about cryptography and machine learning.
I began my technical journey with a Business Informatics degree from the Free University of Bolzano, where I developed solid programming and system design skills before delving deeper into advanced computer engineering. My technical background now spans from software architecture and database systems to advanced cryptographic protocols and machine learning frameworks.
I specialize in fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) and privacy-preserving machine learning implementations. Through the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) at the Politecnico di Torino, I spent six months delving into cryptographic libraries, optimization techniques, and the mathematical principles enabling efficient encrypted computation.
My passion for technology and privacy drives my research into how FHE can contribute to the next generation of AI algorithms, eliminating the need for a tradeoff between convenience and privacy. I am convinced that FHE can promote the ethical use of AI by enabling services that don’t require users to give up their data.
