Mirco is an Italian Linux enthusiast with a technical and scientific educational background in computer science, complemented by more than 20 years of hands-on experience in Linux systems, web technologies and self-hosted infrastructures, built and deepened in his free time, outside of his main profession. His interests include open-source software, networking, cybersecurity and digital independence.
Over the last few years he has focused on studying cybersecurity and network technologies while experimenting with practical approaches to system hardening and secure deployments. NextRedOS was born out of this passion, driven by a strong sense of digital activism: the conviction that individuals and small organizations should be able to reclaim control over their own infrastructure, data and privacy. What started as a personal learning platform grew into a real-world operating system, with a publicly released, GPG-signed version already available. Mirco continues to develop NextRedOS independently, in his free time, as both a standalone distribution and a testbed for new hardening techniques, advocating for Free Software and open technologies as tools for greater transparency, privacy and technological independence.
