Matzat holds a degree in Political Science, worked as a freelance journalist and in adult education. He was one of two co-founders of OpenDataCity, a data joiurnalism agency in Berlin in 2011. Matzat is also founder of Lokaler, a SAAS-company providing a map-middleware for newspapers and magazine. He is blogging on Open Data and data-driven-jounalism for various online platforms in Germany. Matzat does training and consulting for newsroom and publishers on data journalism.
