Kate Downing runs her own firm, handling a wide variety of matters for technology companies and specializing in open source compliance. She routinely helps companies build out their open source compliance processes and assists clients with various open source issues from contributions to third party projects to donating projects to foundations. Kate was previously the lead product counsel at ServiceNow, where she built out their open source processes from the ground up. Prior to that she was product counsel at VMware and managed a team of 12 attorneys handling open source for a wide variety of products from hypervisors to social media platforms. Kate is a graduate of Columbia Law School and Georgetown University.
