Emily Bourne

HPC Application Expert

Emily Bourne is a High Performance Computing (HPC) Application Expert who has worked at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) since the start of 2023. There she works on fusion plasma simulations, which were also the focus of her PhD at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA). She works with a variety of HPC paradigms including OpenACC, OpenMP offload, and Kokkos.

In her spare time she leads the development of Pyccel, an open source transpiler, which drastically accelerates Python bottlenecks.

Emily holds degrees in Physics, Computational Science and Engineering, and a doctorate in Applied Mathematics.
