I am a Master’s student in Artificial Intelligence Systems at the University of Trento. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Applied Computer Science and Data Analytics from the University of Cagliari, where I built an interdisciplinary background spanning computer science, machine learning, statistics, cybersecurity, and data-driven methodologies. This path gradually shaped my interest in intelligent systems, not only from an application-oriented perspective, but also with respect to the mechanisms underlying their behavior.
My Bachelor’s thesis, entitled Verbalized Learning of Vision Language Models for Plant Disease Classification, focused on exploring alternatives to conventional supervised learning paradigms. Instead of relying on parameter fine-tuning, I developed a training-free framework in which Vision-Language Models are guided through natural-language descriptions. The system progressively generates, evaluates, and refines semantic representations based on classification errors, improving its performance while maintaining transparency and requiring only limited amounts of data. The goal of this work was to contribute to the study of language not merely as an interface, but as a potential mechanism for learning and adaptation in multimodal models.
Building on this experience, my research interests have evolved toward Large Language Models, Vision-Language Models, and intelligent systems based on language-driven reasoning. I am interested both in the engineering aspects of these technologies, such as the design of complex AI infrastructures and autonomous agents, and in the scientific questions surrounding model transparency, reliability, and interpretability.
In particular, I am fascinated by understanding how reasoning abilities and other latent properties emerge in foundation models, and to what extent these systems are able to reproduce aspects of human cognition. This curiosity about the inner mechanisms of intelligent models is one of the main motivations behind my decision to pursue advanced studies in Artificial Intelligence.
