Call4Workshops 2026

NEW FOR 2026

From this year onwards, workshop facilitators can indicate their preferred room setup when submitting their proposal, helping us better match the format of each session with the most suitable space.

Are you ready to dive deeper and get hands-on at SFSCON 2025? The Call4Workshops will be officially open until June 30th, 2026!

The official Call4Workshops for the Free Software Conference 2026 – www.SFSCON.it –, to be held on November 13th and 14th 2026 at NOI Techpark in Bolzano/Bozen, Italy will be open until June 30th, 2026.

Workshops at SFSCON are all about active learning. They offer the opportunity to explore Free and Open Source Software in depth, build skills and collaborate with others in an engaging and practical format. Whether you want to teach a tool, share your workflow or build something together, this is your space.

What is a workshop at SFSCON?

Workshops are interactive sessions, generally lasting 40 minutes, where attendees can learn by doing. They are designed for smaller groups and encourage collaboration, experimentation and peer learning. They can be technical, creative or strategic, as long as they involve active participation and are relevant to FOSS.

Workshops can be held in English. All proposal submissions must be in English.

Workshop setup

When submitting your proposal, you can indicate your preferred room configuration:

  • Room with wired tables
  • Room with theatre-style seating

Depending on availability and the overall programme, workshops will be assigned to the most suitable space by the Conference Committee.

Some workshops may take place in shared or open spaces (such as the Crane Hall). In these cases, specific setups (e.g. headsets) may be used to ensure a good experience for both facilitators and participants.

What will we provide?

We’ll provide:

  • A dedicated workshop room at NOI Techpark
  • Basic equipment (screen, whiteboard, Wi-Fi)
  • Promotion through our official SFSCON channels

You bring:

  • A clear structure and hands-on activities
  • Any additional materials or tools needed
  • The energy to engage participants and foster collaboration

Practical notes

  • Workshops do not require the submission of slides
  • A screen with HDMI connection will be available
  • If needed, please bring your own laptop and any required adapters
  • Workshops are typically designed for small groups (approx. 20 participants)
  • In some cases, sessions may be extended or adapted depending on the format

We encourage facilitators to actively promote their workshop within their communities and networks.
