Open Source Week 2026

From 9 to 14 November 2026, Open Source Week returns. The initiative is promoted by RIOS (Italian Open Source Network) and puts Italy’s main open source events in one calendar. This year’s theme is “Share to grow: open ideas, concrete solutions”. Communities, companies, institutions and professionals meet at conferences, webinars, meetups and hackathons, on site and online, to grow open source adoption in Italy.
The week is centred on Bolzano: on 13 and 14 November, RIOS joins SFSCon with a programme on technology, the collaborative model and social impact.

Stati Generali dell’Open Source (Open Source General Assembly) – Digital Sovereignty

On 12 and 13 November, at NOI Techpark in Bolzano, Seacom and RIOS host the first edition of the Stati Generali dell’Open Source, organised with SFSCON. The event will be held in Italian.

The goal is to give Italy an active role in Europe’s path toward greater technological autonomy and to reduce reliance on proprietary US IT products.

The discussion covers four themes:

  1. awareness of digital autonomy in companies and public administration
  2. procurement and decision making
  3. usability and security
  4. industrial capacity in a fragmented supplier landscape

Participants include policymakers and regulators, vendors and system integrators, public and private customers, communities and researchers, foundations and investors, and civil society.

On the afternoon of 12 November there are keynotes and an unconference.
On 13 November, after the SFSCON opening, a working session drafts and formalises a policy manifesto.
